Gypsy Gem was immeasurably special to me. We weren’t bonded the way Cleo and I were, I had to learn Gypsy and be invited into her weird little world. She was my little scaredy cat and my special little girl. What she lacked in intellect, she more than made up for in unbridled joy and love. She was pure love. I lost her eight months after Cleo, she was 16, and she lived a year and eight month longer than expected after being diagnosed with two types of cancer. I lost both my girls within a year, unsettled doesn’t even begin to describe what that felt like. Once again had to turn to ink and paper to settle my soul. The neon colors I had used in Cleo’s work simply didn't suit Gypsy, that wasn’t her. I used a pastel rainbow-colored card-stock and iridescent paint for Gypsy’s work because you can only see the iridescence on colored paper, and you have to engage with this work to fully appreciate it. That was my Gypsy Gem.
